Game #132 vs. Cincinnati

PNC Park | 7:05 | Snell vs. Aaron Harang | Box
Aaron Harang pitched to just two batters over the minimum in shutting the Bucs out. Ian Snell, who according to the AP recap, was involved in a pre-game confrontation with Shawn Chacon, didn’t pitch well. Again.
Ken Griffey, Jr. and Brandon Phillips tatered and Javy Valentin had three knocks to support the brilliance of Harang.
If you want some good news, Romulo Sanchez remains unscored upon.

Pre-game Thoughts
Ian Snell goes and we are all looking for the Ian Snell of the first half. His ERA is up by one run since then and he has just one W. He is 7-4 with a 3.55 ERA in Pittsburgh. This will be his fourth start of 2007 against Cincinnati. He is 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA against the Redlegs this year.
Javier Valentin owns him at 8-13 with a pair of homers. Junior Griffey is 5-9. Alex Gonzalez is 4-7. The rest of the Reds – Scott Hatteberg (4-16), Adam Dunn (2-14), Edwin Encarnacion (4-14) and Brandon Phillips (1-12) – haven’t done much damage.
Aaron Harang has won his last three decisions and seven of his last eight. Despite a 4.98 ERA in three 2007 starts against the Pirates, Harang’s record against the Bucs is 2-0. For his career in PNC, Harang is 6-3 with a 4.92 ERA. Several of the Pirates including Jason Bay (14-37 with four homers), Jack Wilson (13-39) and Xavier Nady (8-19) have done well against Harang. Freddy Sanchez is just 5-29 against him.
The only pitcher off whom Bay has more career homers is Carlos Zambrano.
