The Pirates are working on a winning streak, after winning their third straight game today. The Bucs defeated the Reds 8-4 behind another capable starting pitching performance. Today it was Paul Maholm, who allowed three runs on three hits in five innings. Maholmís only blemish was a three-run home run served up to youngster Joey Votto. He struck out three and walked one on the day. Jonah Bayliss, Hector Carrasco and Casey Fossum each threw a scoreless inning, while Masumi Kuwata allowed one run in his inning.
Jose Bautista paced the Piratesí offense against Josh Fogg, going 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIís. Xavier Nady went 2 for 4 with a double and Ryan Doumit added a double and a sacrifice fly. Fogg allowed six runs, three earned, in three innings.
