Ian Snell probably deserved better. Then again, so do the fans in Pittsburgh. Randy Wolf allowed just three hits and one run in beating Pittsburgh. Snell gave up two runs – one earned – in six innings. Those runs were scored on two walks, a hit, an error and a groundout.
Denny Bautista allowed three 8th inning runs to bust the game open.

Randy Wolf is a 10 game winner after beating Pittsburgh on September 9. He is 4-2 since the trade that brought him from SD to Houston, including a shutout of the Cubs.
He is 6-1 lifetime against Pittsburgh with a 3.64 ERA. The Pirates have not beaten him since 2000. Collectively the Pirates are hitting less than .200 agasint Wolf (13-70). No one has more than two hits. Steve Pearce and Andy LaRoche each have a dinger.
It isn’t much, but Ian Snell has split his last six decisions and his record is now 6-11. This will be his fourth start against Houston in 2008. His last was a loss on September 8. He is 2-4 with a 4.41 ERA against the Astros, but hasn’t beaten them since 2006.
Houston is hitting .239 against Snell (27-113). None of the ‘Stros have more than four hits. Lance Berkman is 4-18 with 10 BB.
