Kerrigan hired as Pirates’ pitching coach

The Pirates hired Joe Kerrigan today to be their new pitching coach. Kerrigan has a solid amount of Major League experience at the position, and he presided over some very good pitching staffs with Boston in 1997-2001. He was the Yankees’ bullpen coach in 2006-2007, and spent the past season doing broadcasting work for the Phillies.

I like this move.

EDIT (6:00 PM): There is some very good information on Kerrigan over at Bucs Dugout. Be sure to take a look. The more I read about him, the more I like this hire.
