My top 25 Pirate prospects

It is that time of the year, with top Pirate prospect lists showing up everywhere. Baseball Prospectus published their top 11 list a few days ago, John Sickels posted his top 20 prospects yesterday, Wilbur Miller recently updated his top 20 list and an Orioles blog even got into the act earlier this week. Posters at the Only Bucs message board have been voting on a top 20 list for the past couple weeks and Baseball America is scheduled to release its top 10 list on January 21. So I figured I should get involved with my personal top 25 list. I will have a separate post for each player, and I will count down from 25 to one over the next month or two. I plan to kick things off later tonight with some honorable mentions.

You can follow the countdown here, or by clicking on the “Top 25 Prospects” link in the site header.

Yeah we’re probably not going to see Astacio in Pittsburgh anytime soon. The team didn’t seem too thrilled about a guy swinging a bat at his teammates.
